President’s Message – 2023 Season Closing

Thank you for the 2023 season!

Hello Dunmoore faithful,

This is a sad but equally exciting message to our members.  The club doesn’t usually look this bare until mid-November, but we closed early with great expectations for 2024!  We have had an exceptional summer season, all leagues have been successful.

I would like to take a moment to congratulate and thank all the volunteers that make Dunmoore a success.  Our Tuesday competitive league ran well under the organization of Michelle and Jenny. Thank you ladies for your time and effort!

Thursday intermediate/beginner night had many new members and was a great success thanks to the organization of Mike Kooiman. Thank you Mike, I was pleased to help where I could.

We acquired a new club Pro this season and we’re happy to have him join our team – Jordan Anthony.
He ran terrific program with his team which included many adult classes filled with members looking to improve their game.  Although we had less participation in the junior classes, we found them to be valuable as a stepping stone to building on it further next season.  Under the leadership of Jordan, we plan to continue to build the junior program.  If you know or have any young people looking to play tennis, please contact Jordan.

The courts are closed in order for the resurfacing project to begin.  With the delays due to the pandemic, we were set back 3 years.  I’ve been assured by the city planners that the project is on track to start, and hopefully without delays to impact the season opening for our 2024 season in May!

There have been numerous changes discussed for the reopening in 2024 at the Annual General Meeting – stay tuned for further updates from the executive team!
